What most of us don’t realise is that when a story grabs us, that conflict, and its resolution, becomes ours.*

Stories are how we live our lives, and we can even be drawn into
stories that are not ours – attentively listening to
a friend or watching a movie can find us anticipating and
experiencing what is happening;
We can find ourselves experiencing our own story as
we tell it or write it down, but,
As amazing as our bodies and minds are for transporting us
into a story, all of the imagining and feeling are there for one thing only,
And that is doing it.

Wow this is so great. Love the drawing, quotes and poem. Somehow your drawings/art are always so enchanting to look at. You always consistently choose amazing quotes. The poem was moving. I totally agree with Cron. The reason we read or watch fiction is because we feel like it is happening to us. The main characters become us. But like you’re saying — and this is so important — that’s not the same as actually living your story. You’re living someone else’s story. What a great thing to truly experience the thrill and vibrancy of naked life.
I guess that would mean actually going outside into the world and doing stuff? A quest. What about the introverts lol? Making choices. Letting the world touch you.
(I haven’t forgotten about our dreamwhispering email. It’s incubating inside me.) π£
My apologies for taking a while to reply. I’m here if you feel and believe the dreamwhispering may be helpful.
Thank you for your ongoing encouragement for the blog and doodles.
When we find the story that is ours, even introverts can “get out there.” This has been my experience.
A fun thing to watch for the quest comes in the form of the children’s characters from Bluey in the Curry Quest episode – the hero’s journey.
Hi π so sorry too. I really want to do the dreamwhispering with you but my wife returned to work after maternity leave and it’s been really rough on her so I’ve been doing overtime taking care of my toddler. I see myself having some time in a couple months. Sorry to leave you hanging.
I’ll bookmark the Curry Quest. Cool that’s really interesting can you say more about how even introverts can get “out there”?
Firstly, my apologies for the slow response. I’m staggered that it’s been almost four months since you sent your message.
Don’t worry about the delay. I hope things are working out in the best way for all of you with the changes you’ve had to be making.
The dreamwhispering journey will answer your question about how an introvert can get out there, but if you feel that is still a little off for you, let me know and I’ll pop something in here.
