A completeness

Need: an empty inner space, a potential that craves realisation. At the inciting incident, the writer recognises an incompleteness in her protagonist … She therefore needs to complete her humanity.*
Robert McKee

won’t you celebrate with me
what i have shaped into
kind of life? i had no model …
i made it up
here on this bridge between
starshine and clay**

Lucille Clifton

As well as desire, there is also
need – the journey finding us
wanting;
Our urge is to shrink back,
Protecting what we have, but,
We can embrace our want, and
if we do, then
there can be what can only be called
transfiguration.
