We are born to a heroic adventure.
Not the Hollywood, CGI’d kind, nor the one that closes with a Disneyesque Happy Ever After.
It’s the kind which invites us to explore what it is to be human.
On a macro-level, human craft and creativity makes it possible for us to step outside of natural selection and survival of the fittest. There appears to be nothing we cannot do as we stand on the brink of altering ourselves at a genetic level and contemplate colonising other planets.
Whilst there are attempts to curb these kinds of research and development, it’s hard to see how such a trajectory can be halted.
The challenge and question is about whether we will continue to explore living selflessly, generously, and wisely.
On a micro or personal level, we get to focus every day on the things which capture our attention. We get to be divergent with these, developing something that is different to, and not a copy of, what others are doing.
As well as this craft and creativity, we also get to practice being people who bring qualities like love and joy and peace and patience and kindness and goodness and gentleness into the world.
